Therese Soco, LMFT - Filipino American therapist specializing in Jungian depth psychology, cultural identity, and intergenerational trauma in Cupertino, California.
About Therese
I'm Therese Soco, a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) in California and New York, specializing in Filipino American and Asian American mental health. I work with adults in individual therapy, and I offer walk & talk outdoor sessions in Cupertino and the Silicon Valley area.
My Background
I grew up in the Philippines, later moved to New York City, and now call California home. These transitions shaped how I understand identity - the way it shifts when you move between cultures, languages, and expectations. I know what it's like to navigate multiple worlds and to feel caught between them. This lived experience informs my work, especially with BIPOC, first-generation, and immigrant clients. I also welcome anyone seeking a reflective, grounded space for personal growth, regardless of background.
My Approach
I'm trained in Jungian depth psychology, which means I'm interested in the unconscious patterns, symbols, and stories that shape who you are. Therapy with me isn't just about solving problems, it's about understanding yourself more deeply. We explore what's beneath the surface: the parts of you that got pushed aside, the patterns you keep repeating, the identity you're still becoming. I don't offer quick fixes. I offer a space to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with yourself.
My Experience
Since 2012, I've worked in a variety of clinical settings such as crisis hotlines, inpatient hospitals, school-based programs, outpatient clinics, and clinical research. Each setting taught me something different about resilience, suffering, and the many ways people heal. I bring all of that into my private practice.
A Few More Things
I'm bilingual in English and Tagalog
I offer walk & talk therapy outdoors for those who prefer movement and nature.
I see clients virtually throughout California and New York, and in-person in Cupertino.
If any of this resonates, I'd love to hear from you.
